APPALACHIAN RADON
Welcome! Please study the information provided on this web site as it may save your life or that of a loved one. RADON is real it effects each and everyone of us all day, every day, at home, work, school, or at play! RADON can be managed easily if you apply the facts. The most important management tool when dealing with RADON is to test your home, work place or school. Basic first step test-kits are available for as little as $14.95 with lab fees and postage included.
Results of a first step basic test-kit if returned, at /or lower than 3.9 pCi/L are considered by EPA standards as not requiring mitigation. Results of a basic first step test-kit returned above 4 and below 8 pCi/L require a second test preferably a long-term test 90 days or more. Results of a basic first step test-kit returned over 8 pCi/L require immediate action to mitigate and reduce levels in the tested building to a safer level below 4 pCi/l. Testing of buildings beyond the first step basic test-kit, initial test, should be conducted by a certified professional testing agency.
Persons qualified to perform professional RADON testing and/or mitigation must be certified. The EPA recognizes both the National RADON Safety Board and The National RADON Proficiency Program as the certification agencies for the United States. Certified individuals have demonstrated that they have the education and skills necessary to make you home, office, or school safe. Be sure and ask for their certification identification card from any one offering these services. Do not trust anyone who may tell you that certification is not required.
Remember a well-informed homeowner is one who cares about the health and well being of themselves and their family.
